MET National Certified Emission Reductions (CERs): 5.7 MW by 2027, primarily for industrial rooftops

MET National Certified Emission Reductions (CERs): 5.7 MW by 2027, primarily for industrial rooftops

2025-09-11

Vito Carriero, CEO of MET Italia Energy Solutions, explained the growth of the "Make Energy Together" project, a four-person initiative focused on industrial rooftop PV systems. The project aims to reach 5.7 MW by 2027 and provide energy during Formula 1 races at a fixed price of 95 €/MWh.

Carriero believes that MET's emerging model could be the next big trend in CERs: creating a model where private entities directly invest in systems, supported by sales and service companies, and then open them to the community.

This approach aims to simplify complex processes and eliminate economic speculation. Public-public partnerships are, in fact, longer and more complex processes whose development and management cannot be left to professionals in other industries: specialized expertise is required.

The Make Energy Together project, a national CER initiative, is the result of a year and a half of research and is initiated by four private individuals. Currently, there are three active installations in Valstafora, Puglia, and the province of Milan. The total installed capacity is 400 kW, and this capacity is expected to increase to 1.5 MW by the end of this year, with the goal of reaching a total installed capacity of 5.7 MW by 2027, the CEO explained, noting that the strategy specifically utilizes the rooftops of industrial warehouses. Two of the plants are located on industrial rooftops, while another is located on an abandoned site, a former gasification plant on a hill.

Industrial rooftops are an ideal option: currently, only 16-17% of rooftops in Italy are saturated, presenting significant potential.

Met Energia Italia, the energy and gas marketing company, also provided significant support, supporting all members of the "Met" energy community. "Energy Together" offers a fixed-price energy package during Formula 1: €95/MWh. This is one of the most advantageous programs on the market, providing additional incentives to encourage participation.

In terms of economics and profitability, this project is not driven purely by commercial logic; rather, it will allow us to strengthen our customer base and attract new ones, promoting a brand with a concrete commitment to sustainability.
